Camino Recovery is a Luxurious retreat expert in addressing the pain that depression, Trauma and addictions bring. Located beneath the Sierra De Tejeda mountains on the stunning Costa del Sol coastline in Southern Spain. The sub-tropical climate and the breath taking landscapes that make Spain one of Europe’s most visited regions provide a serene environment in which to heal. The Mediterranean diet and outdoor life that Spaniards are synonymous for create an amazing and beautiful backdrop.
The family run centre was borne out of family experiences and prides itself on its clinical integrity and warm friendly manner.
The stunning Cortijo that Camino calls home is located in an elevated position overlooking the historic town of Velez Malaga and the coastline beyond. Set in extensive and protected grounds clients immediately feel secluded and safe upon arrival.
We offer a diverse and bespoke program that accommodates the needs and wants of the individual and facilitated by an experienced clinical team who have worked in some of the most prestigious and well regarded facilities both in Europe and the US.
It is important to Camino that the environment created is conducive to the client getting well. With this in mind they focus on mind body and Soul.
The accommodation is comfortable and luxurious with seven individual suites all with en-suite facilities and top quality furnishings.
The chefs provide a varied and nutritious menu that can be eaten on one of the many outdoor dining areas or the large dining table located in the main house.
The walled garden to the rear is always a stunning surprise to visitors with its swimming pool and large wooden gate that provides access to the extensive grounds and helipad. There are many spots on the grounds for quiet reflection or vigorous exercise.
In addition to the expert clinical team we have a complimentary team that provide holistic options such as mindfulness, yoga and meditation.
The clinical team is led by Don Lavender who brings almost 40 years of experience in the field having worked in some of the US top facilities before bringing his experience To Europe. He is attributed as bring Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to Europe and is a published author on the Subject.
Ameet Braich is the Clinical Director and graduated ‘Summa cum Laude’ from the world renowned Hazeldean whilst studying for his Masters in Addiction Counselling. His passion lies in helping clients on a daily basis.
Camino insists on its clinical therapists to be trained to at least Masters level.
Caminos clinical staff are particularly expert at dealing with Depression and Trauma and use many therapeutic processes in enabling clients to overcome their mental health issues. In understanding why someone would feel this way Camino is able to create a bespoke program specifically tailored for them.
Camino remains an intimate and small facility to allow its methods to be diverse and specialized. Each client spends time with one of the clinical team establishing a bespoke program that best suits their needs and wants.
Camino passionately believes in its family component. Addiction is regarded as a family disease and believe the family need to be an active part of the healing process. With this in mind the monthly 5 day family program allows family to come in daily and work together with their loved one to establish healthy relationships. This is an integral part of the therapy and comes at no additional cost.
Camino is located 30 minutes from Malaga International Airport and is within 3 hours of most European cities. Worldwide flights mean it is accessible from the middle east, US and Asia. Camino will help with travel arrangements if required.
The aim and motivation of Camino and its staff is to send clients on their way with a new passion for life. To this ends there is a comprehensive recovery plan developed during their stay. This involves establishing and putting in place the necessary support programs as well as encouraging a new way of living that educates in the way of nutrition, exercise and holistically.
