SCRC offers comprehensive, individualised rehabilitation programmes of varying lengths, to accommodate a variety of personal circumstances. Recommendations regarding treatment duration are made by our therapeutic team on a case to case basis.
LENGTH OF TREATMENT
Length of treatment is dependent on various factors, including (but not limited to) the following: affordability, work commitments, children, depth of addiction, period of use, multiple previous treatment attempts, poly-substance abuse, required crisis intervention, personality disorders, pervasive clinical syndromes, sexual abuse, eating disorders, sexual addiction, trauma, self-harm, attitude, level of commitment and work rate.
Secondary Care - Halfway House
Halfway House (HWH) is a stand-alone facility, accommodating residents who have completed initial treatment but wish to prolong their stay in a therapeutic setting. The objective of our HWH is to provide a safe and controlled living environment, whilst residents re-integrate into society. HWH also reduces the stress and responsibility placed on our residents’ families, during this critical phase of recovery. Under the guidance of our staff and an on-site HWH manager, residents at HWH can learn to take more personal responsibility for themselves and focus on forward progress in all areas of their lives. Whilst at HWH, residents may pursue their studies, volunteer at SCRC or secure external employment, whilst still benefiting from the structure of a recovery-orientated facility. The minimum stay in HWH is 2 months.
SCRC runs various Outreach projects in which our residents can impact other people’s lives in a positive way. Not only does this benefit others, it also helps our residents to develop attitudes of humility and gratitude, both of which are an inseparable part of a successful recovery process.
On a regular basis, we facilitate visits to local crèches, schools, orphanages, churches and informal settlements to be of service in many ways. SCRC also reaches out to impoverished communities in remote areas as often as we can. So far, we have accomplished successful Outreach Missions to Lesotho, Mozambique, Zululand, Matatiele and the Transkei.
‘Knit Your Heart Out’ is an ongoing Outreach project in which residents are taught knitting and crocheting skills. They are also equipped with the materials to be able to personally create blankets, clothing and toys for those less fortunate than themselves. These items are then given to people that need them, as part of our other Outreach initiatives.
