The alcohol abuse programme is structured to provide a safe and supportive environment for the patient. Therefore they will look at their current situation and gain awareness/insight into the recovery process.

Along the way we encourage the development of hope, trust, acceptance and change. This is conducted in an environment where confidentiality overall is of the utmost importance.
Treatment at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green is based on the philosophy that addiction is a progressive illness. Plus we recognise that family are also affected by the person who uses. Hence our programme is specially designed to include the family in the therapeutic process.
This is achieved by offering Family Sessions where the patient and members of their family meet with a therapist. Plus they all look at issues relevant to that patient’s recovery. Also these sessions are highly encouraged they will take place with the permission of the patient.
There is also a Family Support Group
In meeting and sharing with members of other families in a safe and confidential setting, alternative healthier coping skills can be discovered. Plus these will help to ease adjustment to the changes involved in living with an addict.
In order to provide the tools for patients to be abstinent from mood altering substances, we at Godden Green work with an integrative model of therapy using the proven Twelve Step (Minnesota Model) as a base. The programme includes detoxification if needed, group therapy, individual key working, lectures. Plus audio visual aides, written assignments and family involvement.
This programme is also available as an inpatient or a day patient.
