Florida Sober Living

The Pineapple Transitional Living Home

A sprawling white ranch house with a wraparound porch and old-Florida charm, the Pineapple provides lodging for five residents and a staff office. Residents step through the French doors in the living room to find a covered patio with slate tile, a comfortable spot with ample seating for outdoor meals or group meetings. This one-level home is easy to navigate for the older client or anyone who may have trouble with stairs.

The Palm Sober Living House
Full of spacious rooms and walk-in closets, the two-story Palm residence is a great place for men to begin their transition into a healthy life of recovery. The downstairs includes an office area where the residents can work on their resumes and check their email. The brick and coquina patio and the pool behind the Palm residence create an ideal setting for Sunday barbecues. The large balcony off the master suite offers a spectacular view of the night sky with minimal light pollution.

The Fern Sober Living For Men
Located next door to the two other Sanctuary residences is the Fern. The rich tropical landscape there features a host of flowering plants like plumbagos, allamanda, and hibiscus. The birds of paradise among other trees and shrubs provide substantial privacy around the outdoor patio area which features a small hot tub. The five men living in this house are comprised of clients at the Sanctuary for some time and are flourishing.

The Bungalow Female Sober Living Hous
A few city blocks from our men’s residences sits our women’s facility, the peaceful Bungalow. A resident manager lives in the guest cottage, directly behind this three-bedroom home, and works closely with the women who reside there. The trellised patio and private garden area behind this home create ample outdoor living space. It’s a perfect place to sit in the sun. Tall fences around the property ensure privacy. The lush landscape with fragrant plants enhances the already pleasant surroundings.

The Sanctuary - About Us

The Finest in Transitional Living

The Sanctuary delivers the highest quality transitional experience available anywhere, giving our residents the best possible start along the rich and rewarding path of sustained sobriety. Our goal is to help recovering men and women reclaim their rightful places as healthy and productive members of society.

Our men’s facility consists of three residences, the Pineapple, the Palm, and the Fern. Located about a half mile south of Atlantic Avenue and a mile west of the Atlantic Ocean in Delray Beach, Florida. The homes are next door to one another and are in close proximity to numerous Twelve Step meeting places in a quiet, downtown-area neighborhood. White picket fences surround the three-bedroom homes. There are no more than two clients to a room in any of the homes and each house features at least one private room. A ficus hedges divide the properties and an arched passageways through the greenery provide direct access from one backyard to the other. Each of these homes has ample patio space with covered patio at two of the three houses.

Several city blocks from our other homes is our women’s residence, the Bungalow, where gardenias accent the lush landscape, confederate jasmine climbs the trellises enclosing the spacious back deck, a waterfall softly trickles into a meditation pond, and sidewalks of brick and stone lead to the on-site manager’s residence. All of these features help to create an environment where four women can thrive in early recovery.

What We Offer For Women

At the Sanctuary we believe in a personalized and multi-faceted approach to recovery. Women living here attend groups throughout their stay with themes ranging from nutrition and vocational concerns to meditation and healing through the creative arts. Relapse prevention issues are also addressed on a group level. A peer-facilitated morning meditation meeting helps residents begin the day on a positive note. We also provide our clients with a membership to a nearby gym where they can practice yoga.

Four women live comfortably at the Bungalow. Natural light washes over the three bedrooms and common areas of this one-story home. The trellised deck off the living room is beautiful, private, and spacious enough to easily accommodate a nice dinner among friends. Just off the deck a waterfall trickles into a small pond complete with water lilies. The verdant landscape in the garden area softens the already tranquil setting with many fragrant plants.

What We Offer For Men

We house 15 men in three three-bedroom homes which are next door to one another. There is ample outdoor patio space and indoor living space at each home where residents congregate. On site there is a swimming pool as well as a billiards table with a conversion top for ping pong. At one of the houses we subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket so clients from anywhere in the US can root for their home team during football season. Every Sunday evening the men share a potluck dinner, after which one of the residents tells his personal story of addiction. These features in addition to the group activities the residents are expected to attend create an atmosphere where men of all ages can form meaningful connections to help them remain grounded in the Twelve Step recovery process.

Philosophy

Florida Sober Living

The Sanctuary in Delray Beach is a place where men can leave the isolation of chemical dependency and begin living one day at a time with others who are seeking a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Our mission is to provide transitional living for men in an environment steeped in Twelve Step principles which is aesthetically pleasing and fosters a healthy, self-disciplined, and meaningful life.

We believe that the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous map the journey to recovery from the disease of chemical dependency that works best for most people and that lack of involvement in Twelve Step meetings is the common denominator among those who are unsuccessful and who relapse.

At the Sanctuary we believe that early recovery doesn’t need to be painful. We understand that when a man finishes primary treatment for his addiction, he isn’t necessarily willing to enter a halfway house. He may have just come to terms with the considerable social stigma associated with alcoholism and drug addiction. Nevertheless, continued structure and close support are critical to his success and overall well being. The Sanctuary can be a solution for this predicament which men who are suffering from chemical dependency, their therapists, and their families encounter on a daily basis.
