Centre Description

Welcome letter from the CEO:

A warm welcome to you on this day from everyone at The Spirit of the Phoenix Recovery Centre. I am Sharon, the CEO, I have walked many of your paths and maybe a few more. Two years ago I envisioned a dream in which I was treated to my past, present and future. My destiny, fate and purpose for coming into this life in these times was shown to me.

All was revealed in a flash of openness, honesty and truth: what I had been experiencing in my own life up to the moment of the dream had been purposeful and individually perfect. So for me my life had been nothing of an accident and everything had happened for the creation and expansion of myself. I instantly gave thanks within and to the dream. I knew that I had given myself back to myself and ended my separation. From a spark of hope way back down the ways, I found a belief deep within me and from this belief I led myself to remembering and knowing. My creation of myself anew has appeared…

My dream flashed and turned into a flaming bird rising from the ashes to be reborn again in its next higher image and I thought I must be watching Harry Potter and the magic! In that moment the spirit of the phoenix rising was created as a feeling deep within and around me. I instantly knew deep within my heart and soul that I was to create dream creation: The Spirit of the Phoenix Recovery Centre. The Spirit of the Phoenix offers a different way, a newer way, a better way of facilitating the dreams and visions of all who pass this way. So the spirit of the phoenix has been reborn.

We are all one. We are the ones we have been waiting for. Best of all I was the one I had been waiting for. I desired this for everyone. I simply desire and want what you want for yourself.

My dream has led me to openness, honesty and truth to create Spirit of the Phoenix Recovery Centre. It is on this day that you too have dreamed the Spirit of the Phoenix into your life. In life there truly are no accidents.

You are warmly and openly invited to make contact with me at any time.

Love and light from Sharon and the Spirit of Phoenix.

Philosophy:

The Phoenix team believes you can change your way of life. The programme uses highly effective experiential therapies with a contextual focus to guide you into better ways of solving life’s difficulties. Traumas, including addiction, can be resolved in this way to offer a new philosophy of life. Our team of professionals will hold you through this process. Many of us here have walked this path – we know it can be hard, but we also know that it is rewarding and have experienced the virtues of living recovery. When life has become more about surviving than living, our highly qualified and experienced team will facilitate a recreation of the self. We will guide you expertly.

Our luxurious but homely centre with its non punitive, reward based programme offers a feeling of safety. You and your family can relax- you’re in safe hands. You will experience the art of living recovery so that when you leave The Phoenix with a set of solution focussed life skills and greater psychological flexibility, you will be living recovery that is consistent and balanced. You will know in your heart you are living mindfully, in a safer more respectful way towards yourself and to your surrounding environment. You will find who you are.

As the legend of the Spirit of the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so will your spirit as you recreate yourself.

Mission:

The Spirit of the Phoenix is committed to providing you an excellent treatment programme. An ecosystemic model is used, including the 12 step model, to engender a recovery way of life. Our individualistic approach allows each client to receive as much one to one attention as needed. We believe the quality of the recovery centre encourages healing.

The Spirit of the Phoenix is positioned in a private cul de sac high on the beautiful and radiant mountainside of Glencairn Heights, overlooking uninterrupted superb ocean views. As we are secluded, there is ample safe parking as well as access to shops, public transport (trains, buses, taxis).

We have provided wonderful accommodation for ten clients in spacious rooms with five en suite / separate bathrooms. The bedrooms are all shared. The views from the bedroom balconies are magnificent, looking into the seas of False Bay, Glencairn, Simons Town and surrounding mountains. The home is spacious with gardens, a vibrant pigeon avery, a large swimming pool and powerful spiritual areas that allow quiet time and intimacy.

Lounge facilities include spacious, comfortable sofas, a 50 inch flat screen TV, DSTV access, DVDs and WIFI access and a growing library. The dining room is spacious enough for all clients and staff, and is perfect in summer with balcony doors looking onto the bay, or in winter sitting around a large fire place that heats up the entire two story house.

The kitchen is a communal space where our friendly professionally trained in-house chef cooks healthy, homely and balanced meals, but where clients on the week-ends prepare their own meals including a compulsory community Sunday braai (barbeque). Therapeutic duties are a part of the programme, as is cooking and house life skills.

Tertiary Flatlet

A tertiary flatlet is also provided and is open to those who have been through the Spirit of the Phoenix secondary treatment programme. There is space for three clients.

Whilst secondary is about treating traumas, changing behaviors, living the fellowships recovery life. Tertiary is about practicing recovery whilst integrating back into work / studies / volunteer work, we encourage ALL our clients to participate in this essential phase.

Spirit Of The Phoenix

At Spirit of the Phoenix you will learn to experience yourself as an individual with separate and particular needs. Choosing to come to The Phoenix, you already are expressing and demonstrating your desire to expand and proceed humanely and spiritually. Addiction, any compulsive behavior and trauma creates many difficulties for the self and others and come with many consequences, but also gifts. One of these gifts to the self is to venture to address not only surface issues but also to process deep seated, untreated trauma memories that have set up debilitating patterns of living. These unhealthy patterns can be transformed through revelation and resolution into gifts that expands you creatively and purposefully. We pledge to treat you in a respectful and dignified manner. We also promise to have fun along the way.

Many of us here have walked this path – we know it can be hard, but we also know that it is rewarding and have experienced the virtues of living recovery. When life has become more about surviving than living, our highly qualified and experienced team will facilitate a recreation of the self. We will guide you expertly on your life changing journey at the Spirit of the Phoenix Recovery Centre.

By the last moment you are here you will know in your heart you are living mindfully, in a safer more respectful way towards yourself and to your surrounding environment. You will find who you are. As the Spirit of the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so will your spirit as you recreate yourself and expand yourself anew.

We commit to walking this path with you no matter what.
