Centre Description
Prinsted is a private second-stage residential treatment centre in Horley, Surrey. Founded and independently run by clinicians, Brian Ballantyne and Caitilin Prinsep, the programme is rooted in the 12- Step abstinence based model.
This has been developed over many years experience into a fully integrated, lovingly delivered programme of therapeutic care to individuals and their families whose lives have been affected by the illness of addiction.

Attendance at Fellowship meetings and family involvement are requirements. Residents are also expected to complete written assignments and read literature provided by the therapeutic staff.
Prinsted Programme
Drug Alcohol Abuse Treatment
The therapeutic programme consists of a mixture of group therapy, workshops, one-to-one counselling, voluntary service in the community and activities such as yoga and art. As the programme develops more complimentary therapies will be added. Attendance at Fellowship meetings and family involvement are requirements. Residents are also expected to complete written assignments and read literature provided by the therapeutic staff.
We place great emphasis in translating the 12-step programme from theory into practice and using tried and tested tools/therapies we help people gain a deeper spiritual understanding and a greater connection with others. We promote standards and values and adherence to a set of principles that have largely been lost in active addiction.
Responsibilities
Residents are responsible for sharing the duties of shopping, cooking and cleaning and for all other household tasks, with guidance and assistance given, when needed.
Learning to live in community, giving service to others and gaining the skills to resolve differences are seen as essential living and social skills.
Life Preparation
We offer help with the employment process, compiling a CV, preparing people for interviews, and guiding them towards independent living. Following treatment we also offer full aftercare support through weekly groups, one-to-one counselling and telephone contact. The length of this service will vary according to need but all ex-residents can use this facility throughout their lives.
Family Involvement
Family involvement is seen as crucial to a positive and long lasting successful outcome of treatment. Regular family conferences and participation in groups occur throughout treatment. Similarly the inclusion of employers or any other significant individual in clients’ lives is seen as beneficial.
