Our intensive program is designed to provide a safe, secure and supportive environment in which relapse triggers, behavioral tendencies and subconscious patterns can be identified and then modified.
Overview
The Challenges model represents a new and unique direction in relapse treatment and prevention. Our program is considered to be "cutting edge" in relapse prevention and treatment. Challenges is appropriate for medically stabilized adults, over the age of 18, who are motivated to develop and maintain a continuing recovery program from disorders relating to addiction, mental health and dual diagnosis.
Challenges Intensive Relapse Treatment and Prevention Program will provide clients with the tools they need to help them identify their own particular warning signals and trigger mechanisms. At the same time, Challenges helps them prepare a concrete plan for success in the future.

Challenges is state licensed & JCAHO accredited. Our Staff consists of a multidiciplinary team of professionals including: Psychiatrists, Nurses, Licensed Masters and PhD level Therapists, as well as Addictions Specialists and Specialized Relapse Treatment Professionals.

Challenges staff is also available to assist families in the intervention process.At Challenges, the treatment focuses on helping the client to make positive, life altering changes. This may include examining personality traits that are a roadblock to recovery, distorted perceptions of self, world and others, trauma related issues, and family conflict. Motivational enhancement and outreach efforts often help improve clients' adherence and impact the outcome of treatment.
At Challenges, we understand how stressful the admissions process can be. We have highly trained admissions personnel whose goal is to help each client and family through the transition into treatment. Upon admission to Challenges, an individualized treatment plan will be formulated with the full participation of the client.
Family Program
Challenges is committed to the inclusion of family as an integral part of every client's treatment plan . The disease of Addiction adversely affects the entire family. Challenges is committed to the inclusion of family as an integral part of every client's treatment and recovery.
When a client is admitted to Challenges the primary therapist contacts the family to orient them to the treatment process and invite their participation in it. Information about the program, the disease process as well as their family member's treatment is shared. Appointments may be scheduled for family therapy. Referrals may be made to family self-help groups. All family members are invited to participate in the Family Program described below.
The Family Program consists of individual, group , and educational meetings designed to share information, define processes like co-dependency and enabling, educate about diagnoses and medications and develop new coping strategies for recovery and relapse prevention. "Family" includes but is not limited to parents, spouses, siblings, children, (14 and older), as well as friends, significant others, employers, sponsors or anyone else who may be important to enhance and participate in the client's treatment and recovery.
Detox
Challenges actively maintains co-provider relationships with many different Detoxification facilities - locally, statewide, nationally and internationally. By virtue of these relationships, Challenges is able to offer substantially discounted rates and ease of admission and case management transition from detox to treatment.
Also, in this way Challenges is able to refer each client to the most appropriate detox facility to meet the specilized needs of each person. If you have a need for detoxification or have any questions regarding detox, our staff is available around the clock to assist you in this regard.

The Extended Care Program provides a continuing length of stay for additional relapse prevention treatment and for resolution of issues which could not be addressed adequately during an initial 30 day treatment stay. Some clients will enter the extended care program after completion of the Challenges 30 day relapse treatment program and some will enter extended care after having been referred to Challenges after completion of a primary care program at another facility.
The length of stay in the Extended Care Program is variable and determined solely by the particular history, needs and progress of each individual client. The typical length of stay may be 60, 90, 120 days or longer as recommended by the treatment team with full participation of the clients and family.
This program allows clients enough time to work on the entire range of potential relapse issues and triggers as may be necessary based upon each individuals history and their individual assessment and needs.

Legal IssuesOur Facilities: Apartment Residences
Located in the greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida area, Challenges provides clients with the perfect combination of convenience, serenity, luxury and therapy.
Apartment based housing is provided for clients who need a safe, sober, and structured living environment while in treatment at Challenges.
The experienced and professionally trained staff supervises clients at the structured living residences. Clients are transported by staff, day and evening, to recovery meetings, shopping, medical and/or legal appointments, if necessary, and to any other appointments approved by the treatment team.
Recreational activities are arranged for clients, such as cookouts, volleyball games, softball games, picnics, beach outings, aerobics, shopping, bowling, movies and other group excursions.
Clients in structured living reside at an upscale apartment-based living facility, which are fully managed and monitored 24 hours, 7 days a week. The apartments are located in an attractive, tropical and serene suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
